Forgelio — The Career Operating System

UK PECR applies. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), we must obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device. This policy sets out how we meet that obligation.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the website operator.

Similar technologies, such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags, work in a comparable way and are also covered by this policy. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies".

Cookies can be:

Session cookies: temporary cookies deleted when you close your browser
Persistent cookies: remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them
First-party cookies: set by Forgelio directly
Third-party cookies: set by our service providers (see section 5)

2. Legal basis under PECR and UK GDPR

Under PECR Regulation 6, we may only store or access information on your device if:

It is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested, or
You have given your prior informed consent

When you first visit Forgelio, you will be shown a cookie banner asking for your consent to non-essential cookies. You may accept all, reject all optional cookies, or choose individual categories. Your preference is remembered for 12 months.

Where we rely on consent, the corresponding lawful basis under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) also applies. You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Update cookie preferences" at the bottom of any page, or by adjusting your browser settings as described in section 7.

3. Cookie categories we use

Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as logging in or setting your privacy preferences. You cannot opt out of these cookies.

Examples: Session management, authentication, consent storage, payment security

Analytics

These cookies allow us to count visits, understand which features are used, and improve the platform. All data is aggregated and anonymised where possible. Set only after your consent is given.

Examples: PostHog analytics, session recording, feature usage tracking

Functional

These cookies enable personalised features such as remembering your theme preference. They do not track you across other websites.

Examples: Theme preference, display settings

We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and seek your consent before placing any such cookies.

Cookie names may include a suffix (e.g. a unique identifier) that varies per user. Entries marked with * are prefix patterns.

5. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party providers we use to deliver the Services. These providers may process data on their own systems according to their own privacy policies:

PostHog: product analytics. Their privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy
Stripe: payment processing. Their privacy policy is at stripe.com/gb/privacy
Supabase: authentication and database. Their privacy policy is at supabase.com/privacy

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising network cookies.

6. Managing your cookie preferences

You can control optional cookies in several ways:

Cookie banner: When you first visit the site, you can choose which categories of cookies to allow.
Update preferences: You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Update cookie preferences" in the footer of any page.
Browser settings: See section 7 for instructions on how to manage cookies through your browser.

Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies may affect the functionality of the website, including your ability to log in and use core features.

7. Managing cookies through browser settings

Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, and set preferences for specific websites. Instructions for popular browsers:

For mobile devices, cookie management can usually be found in the privacy or browser settings for your operating system. Disabling cookies in your browser will override any preferences you set through our cookie banner.

You can also opt out of PostHog analytics tracking by visiting PostHog's opt-out page.

8. Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the platform evolves or as our use of cookies changes. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

If we introduce new categories of cookies that require consent, we will show the cookie banner again to collect your updated preferences before those cookies are set.
